What we believe

What We Believe

At New Life Community Church, our beliefs are centred on the good news of Jesus Christ God’s only Son and the answer to all our brokenness and longing. Through Jesus, we discover our God-given purpose: to live for His glory.

1. God

We believe in one eternal God who exists in three distinct but equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is unchanging in His holiness, justice, wisdom, and love. He is the almighty Creator, Saviour, and Judge, who sustains and governs all things according to His sovereign will and for His own glory.

2. The Bible (Scripture Alone)

God has revealed Himself uniquely in the Bible the Old and New Testaments. Every word was inspired by God through human authors, making the Bible, as originally given, the complete, error-free Word of God. Scripture alone is our final authority and is fully sufficient for all matters of belief and practice. (2 Timothy 3:14–17)

3. The Human Race

All people are created in God’s image and therefore possess inherent dignity and worth. Our highest purpose is to obey, worship, and love God. However, because of the fall of our first parents, every part of human nature is corrupted. All are spiritually dead, guilty before God, and in need of forgiveness and reconciliation through new birth.

4. The Lord Jesus Christ (Christ Alone)

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father. He taught with authority, and all His words are true. On the cross, Jesus died in the place of sinners, bearing God’s punishment for sin and redeeming us by His blood. He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now reigns as Lord, interceding for His people. (Acts 4:10–12; Romans 3:21–26; 5:8–10)

5. Salvation (Grace Alone)

Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace it cannot be earned or deserved. It was accomplished by Jesus Christ and is offered to all in the gospel. God, in His love, forgives those He calls, granting them repentance and faith. All who trust in Christ are justified by faith alone, adopted as God’s children, and given eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 11:6)

6. Faith Alone

We are saved by personal faith alone trusting in God’s gift of grace through Jesus Christ, not by our own good works. God is sovereign in salvation; by His Spirit, He creates faith in us and transforms our lives. (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 8:1–17; Galatians 5:21–26)

7. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify Christ and apply His work of salvation. He convicts us of sin, gives new spiritual life, and enables us to understand the Scriptures. He lives within every believer, assuring us of our salvation and shaping us to be more like Christ. The Spirit builds up the Church and empowers us for worship, service, and mission.

8. The Church

The universal Church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers with Christ as its head. It is expressed in local congregations, where believers are committed to one another for worship, teaching, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, pastoral care, discipline, and evangelism. The unity of the Church is shown through mutual love, care, and encouragement. True fellowship exists where churches remain faithful to the gospel.

9. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are visible signs of the gospel given by Christ to His Church. Baptism symbolizes our union with Christ and entry into His Church, but does not itself give spiritual life. The Lord’s Supper commemorates Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice; the bread and wine remain unchanged, and all its blessings are received by faith.

10. The Future

Jesus Christ will return in glory to raise the dead and judge the world in righteousness. The wicked will face eternal punishment, while the righteous will enjoy eternal joy in God’s presence. God will make all things new and be glorified forever.

11. For the Glory of God Alone

Everything our salvation and our lives is for the glory of God alone. The Church exists as a redeemed community so that God might be honoured and worshipped through us. (Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 10:31; 1 Peter 2:5, 9; Ephesians 1:22; 3:21; 5:23, 25)

In summary:

We stand on Scripture alone, trust in Christ alone, are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, and live for the glory of God alone.
